William Hakim, violist, received his Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School where he studied with Samuel Rhodes and received the Bidu Sayao Prize for viola. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree with High Distinction from the Eastman School of Music, where he was a student of John Graham and was the recipient of the George Eastman Grant. He has given chamber and solo performances at major venues throughout the US, including Carnegie¡¯s Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Merkin Concert Hall, and abroad in New Zealand, Argentina, Finland, at the Leipzig International Music Festival, the Apeldoorn Music Festival in Holland, the Costa Rica Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar at Carnegie Hall. He was invited to colloborate in performances with Philippe Graffin, Charles Neidich, Colin Carr , and has also performed with members of the Juilliard, American, Mendelssohn, and Amernet quartets, as well as with musicians from the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and New York Philharmonic. He is on the faculty of Point Counterpoint Chamber Music Camp in Vermont, is the founding member of the Nova Chamber Artists and performs with the String Orchestra of New York City.
